Update: While doing some work on my patio, I noticed termite damage in the wood under my sliding doors (in the original part of the house, not the new sunroom). I got the termites taken care of but needed the wood replaced quickly due to guests arriving in a couple of weeks. I contacted CDRC and they quickly came out to assess the damaged wood and then got the repair scheduled and completed in time for me to finish my work before guests were to arrive. Very responsive and good quality work.I added a sunroom on to my house. Once we got through the permit process that was difficult due to the city of Saratoga Springs and not an issue of CDRC, they did high quality work and finished the project in good time. They even finished to a certain level ahead of time to work with my schedule and people visiting. Easy to work with and responsive to requests. Better pricing than other contractors I got pricing from as well.

I had a somewhat disappointing experience with CDRC. I spoke with Dave, the owner, about the possibility of adding a master bedroom/bath/closet and inquiring about a quote for finishing a three-season room.Initially, communication was good. However, after receiving the quote, we decided to proceed only with finishing the three-season room due to the high cost ($362 per sq foot) for the full addition, which did not cover various fees and additional expenses.After leaving a voicemail about our decision, unfortunately, we didn't receive a response. Despite trying to follow up three times, with promises of a callback, it didn't materialize, and I took that as a sign.Our project, although on the smaller side at $25,000, still represented a significant investment for us. It would have been appreciated to receive a simple yes or no without the additional three weeks of uncertainty. Also to mention, the 3 seasons room was 113 square feet and had infrastructure already, so again $220 square foot on that room still seemed high, but we were willing to pay for the higher level of service, professionalism & work, which we didn't get.I believe that maintaining a reputation for "craftsmanship & professionalism" should involve responding to basic messages, especially as CDRC charges premium prices. This experience leaves me questioning if smaller projects are given lower priority and raises concerns about communication during the actual project.This is just my honest opinion & is limited to my experience only.

If there were more than 5-stars for a review, I'd give even more. Dave and his amazing crew saved me from a huge botched job and my original contractor abandoning me after I paid him over $100k. The professionalism, knowledge and work ethic of all of the employees was at the highest level. They finished my big rehab in less that 12 days, where others would have taken 2 months. Everything about their work was 100+%, was refreshing and a pleasure to have done. I'd reccomend Dave and CDRC for any job, large or small. It is said, you get what you pay for. Dave and his team added a 3 season room onto our house and the experience was all positive. He is knowledgeable, practical and provided some great advice. Likewise, his project manager Phil was very helpful in guiding the plans as well as coordinating the build. The rest of the team was top notch too, Bill and Chris who did most of the construction, Steve who kept everything going logistics wise, and Josh who did a lot the hard physical work.At the end of every day, the work site was picked up and everything was put away.They worked through some adverse weather, Steve even shoveled out the work site so progress could continue after the storm at the end of March. In all, the room took around 3 weeks from start to finish. Much quicker than I had thought possibleFor my next project, I don't need to look any further.

CDRC did an amazing job, again, for my home in Delmar. This is the third project I have done with them, and I am 100% satisfied. Prior to this I had my basement remodeled and the master bath. This time my project was a remodel for my full bathroom on the second floor of my home. Dave always arrives at the time he says he is going to. He is always honest with possibilities as well as helps me create the best look for my room. I never have to wait weeks for an estimate. He is thoughtful and thorough in his work. I cannot give any positive feedback for the excavating, foundation work or sealing of my basement that was done in June.Wet cement being dumped on my neighbors property ("not my guys") to my gas line being bent preventing my hot water heater, furnace and stove not to function and National Grid digging up the lawn just reseeded. We used Capital District to construct a new sunroom on our home in Niskayuna. We are very happy with the experience and how the sunroom came out and would recommend Capital District. Though not the cheapest quote we received, I believe the construction is of higher quality, for example as the Sunroom is elevated over an existing patio and well insulated, we scoped in plywood coverings to keep rodents out of the insulation, which was not included in some of the other quotes but we felt was important given the many chipmunks in our yard and the destruction rodents can do. No corners were cut and quality subcontractors were used for work that was subcontracted out (Nolan did the plans, Crisafulli did the split, Ridgeline Roofing did the roof). While issues arise with scheduling and winter time construction, the project was largely on-schedule and fit our timeline and expectations, which is noteworthy considering the project was started in the fall of 2020 during the pandemic. The windows turned out to have a longer lead time than expected (pandemic) which added about a month, but our goal was to be in by March and we were. We had a leak around one of the skylights during a late winter thaw and the issue was corrected promptly and professionally. It is worth noting that it's a standing seam roof with a low grade. The water damage was repaired by Capital District and we have had no issues since the repair). No surprises on price or with scope changes (we added a few things).We would recommend Capital District.

Did a full kitchen remodel--complete teardown to the studs which included removing three interior walls and installing hidden beams in the ceiling. Also had plumbing re-routed, electric service upgraded, new hardwood floors dovetailed into existing flooring, cabinets installed and significant lighting upgrades.Overall great job--would use again.

We had a huge job to do: replace half of our house foundation, which was cracked and bowing. CDRC has the experience and expertise needed to get such a serious job done. They completed the work beautifully. The house is secure and the new foundation half no longer leaks with ground water, giving us extra usable space. We did encounter a few snags along the way, due to the company having to outsource some work to other contractors, but the owner, Dave, was always available to fix any problems immediately. Only thing keeping them from 5 stars was the inconsistent communication throughout the process. We never really knew, day to day, when people would show up to complete work and what they were working on. And extra expenses encountered during the process weren't discussed until after the fact, causing a bit of financial stress. But the end result is most important and the quality work speaks for itself. We have additional renovation plans to tackle, and we will be hiring them again when needed.

We hired Capital District Contractors to design and construct a three-season room and deck addition to our home, and we are extremely pleased with the results. Dave Bernacki and his crew were always professional. They did it all! Framing, sheetrock, flooring, windows, painting, electric, and they made every step easy for us as customers. We always felt informed as to how each phase of the build would happen and when. The construction was done over the winter, which meant that there were a handful of short delays due to cold weather but, nevertheless, everything was completed in a timely fashion and to the high standard that we hoped for. If we ever had questions or concerns, Dave was just an email away, and almost always responded within hours. I would NOT recommend this firm. I paid about $35k for a sunroom about 10 years ago, which at first looked nice. The one significant detail that he never clarified before construction was the treatment from the floor of the room (which does not have a full foundation) to the ground. What they installed was white painted masonry board and cheap wood trim. The paint flaked off in sheets and the wood rotted away. That was completely replaced about 3-5 years on with PVC based sheet goods and trim.About 3 years after construction, I looked out the only upstairs window that overlooks the roof to discover that one of the skylights had a trim kit installed around it, the other didn't. I contacted Dave, he told me he came out and looked at it. He said the trim kit was no longer available. (Doubtful, because I was told today it was available, and purchased separately from the window.) He said based on the fact that the window hadn't leaked, it would be fine. I'm now at the 10 year mark, and one of the skylights is almost completely rotted through on the bottom, ants are proliferating and the replacement skylight, roof deck and shingles will be about $2500. The interior sheetrock repairs will come later.I sent Dave an email, which he hasn't responded to. No matter, I won't be using them to construct anything.I am paying someone else to fix the mess, and hopefully do it right this time.

It’s hard to believe that it has been a year since Dave and his crew completed the addition of our family room. The room is filled with lots of windows and an incredible fireplace being the center of attraction. The Adirondack look and feel was achieved as we requested so our room has now become our “Get Away.” The warmth the room brought during Christmas with the tree and decorations was picture perfect. We can’t say enough about the great team Dave has, from the crew that prepared the footings, to the framers to those who did the finish and fine detail work; they are all perfectionists and were great to bounce ideas off of and answer our questions. This is also to be expected with any big construction project.Overall my wife and I are very happy with the porch and are also glad we did the upgraded plexi-glass for the winter. They are prompt,courteous and neat. Dave Bernacki of Capital District Contractors met with us recently to discuss a large project we want to do. Due to a lot of issues with our nearly 200-year old house, we want to demolish a portion of our home, rebuild with a full basement, re-frame the roof, and provide a shell that we could finish ourselves. Dave did not wince once when we shared the extent of our project and provided a quote quickly after hearing what we wanted. Unfortunately, due to financing restrictions, we aren't able to proceed with the project at this time. WE contracted CDC in 2015 to enlarge our Kitchen. WE had several estimates but non had a vision of what could be done. Dave saw the potential and said we are taking all the walls down including foyer, stairs and floors. WE have lived in our house for 42 years and it had gone through many transition but never to this degree . He was right! The result was an open plan with an actual foyer. The process was mostly an easy transition and the result was fantastic! Yes, we had a few bumps but everything was corrected immediately. We invited 3 contractors to bid on an extensive project for our home in 2016. We wanted to completely reconstruct our back patio, and remodel our family room, which were adjacent rooms in our home. The patio project entailed demolishing the old structure, completely removing the existing foundation, and tearing down an existing brick fireplace. We wanted to extend the size of that room, and install back to back gas fireplaces, so that each room could be individually heated, and so that the new patio would be a 4 season room. Dave Bernacki met with us, listened carefully to our requests, and responded with a comprehensive quote, and he also discussed ideas that he thought he could include at minimal incremental cost (e.g. outside lighting) to enhance the project. He outlined the permits that would be required, the materials and labor cost, and the subcontractors that would be used based on their expertise, along with his own direct employees. We were (and remain) extremely pleased with how the project was managed. His employees and his contractors are professional, courteous, efficient, and accommodating. At each step in the process they would ask questions and make small changes as the project proceeded. The room is beautiful and during the project, the crew cleaned up the debris daily, so that the project site was cleared of any dangerous or unsightly materials. I strongly endorse Dave Bernacki and Capital District Contractors for any remodeling job that you may be considering. Capital District Contractors built an addition on our home, which involved removing the whole back wall of the house and building a new living room and adding another bedroom and a deck. It came out beautiful, a perfect job of tying in the new building with the existing. Dave's advice during the planning stages was spot on, and the workmanship top notch. We had some crown molding, wainscoting and beadboard installed in various parts of our home by Capital District Contractors and could not have been more pleased! Dave was kind, honest and fair when it came to giving us an estimate on materials and labor. Jeremy was incredibly considerate and accommodating when he was doing work in our home. I even had some health challenges causing chemical sensitivities and he was careful to do what he could outside and to use a specific caulking agent, as to not complicate my health any further. The work they do it beautiful and precise! They throroughly cleaned up each day, never leaving a mess. Additionally, when I was unhappy with the height of something, Jeremy made the time and put in the effort to create a custom trim ledge to get to the height we preferred. We had been looking for the right contractor for our "this old house" kitchen renovation project for months without success. Recommended contractors either never called us back or were scared off when we told them the age of the house (over 200 yrs). Then I heard an ad on the radio about an honest contractor who doesn't even require a deposit and I was intrigued, so I sent Dave an email and within a day he responded and was at my house to look at the project the first day we were both available. I knew when I first shook his hand, he was the guy I was looking for. He listened to the ideas we had and offered many of his own that we hadn't considered possible. He didn't flinch at the age of the house or the complexity of the project. He gave us a price within our budget and we were on our way to a beautiful kitchen. Yes, there were some bumps along the way and some unexpected items which slowed the project down, but he was more than fair with us and things could not have turned out better. Dave & company recently added an atrium room addition to the back is of my home integrating it with existing deck and building a new poolside deck with a very long handicap ramp ! His craftsmen are outsanding with the end result better than you could have imagined ! I originally contacted Patio Room builders and received a bid that was not a very good value or result. The difference in quality and appearance was dramatically subpar compared to my finished product from Capitol District Builders . Although more in total cost the finished product was a bargain in retrospect. Quality work for a fair price. We hired Dave to finish our basement and recommendation from others in our neighborhood. We had several quotes but CDC was the most reasonable for what we wanted. In a lot of ways we were not sure what we wanted and Dave and his crew were helpful along the way to guide us in terms of offering advice and ideas and options based upon their experience. We made several changes to the overall plan throughout the process but ultimately we got the living space in the basement that we wanted and we are very happy with the results. It’s like a seamless extension of the rest of the house. The basement included three rooms, a bathroom. Also, as mentioned we made a lot of changes and while some of them obviously impacted the overall cost, it was reasonable and there was no “nickel and diming” so to speak....So overall I would recommend CDC and have done so several times. With any GC and any project there are always going to be hiccups along the way - but our experience was pretty smooth and easy and the results are great.
