Our experience with CDRC started off well enough. The company came recommended to us by friends that had used CDRC for a recent project. We reached out to the owner to discuss the project we were planning, a second floor addition to our home in the Saratoga area. The owner came over to discuss the addition, looked at the exterior of the house, and took a few exterior measurements. We then received an estimate for the project, and, after speaking to a few references, decided we wanted to work with CDRC for our project. The owner put together a contract for us to review; however, we were hesitant to sign an agreement given that an architect/engineer had not properly scoped out the project (or been involved up to this point). We were not willing to risk running into any cost surprises during the architectural assessment and drawing phase. We shared this concern with the owner and he suggested, in writing, that we incorporate language into the contract that if any surprises should emerge during the architectural drawings phase then he would return our deposit of $7,500. Based on this suggestion, we added a clause to the contract to which he agreed and was incorporated into our executed agreement. We certainly would have never entered into an agreement with any contractor without this protection prior to having architectural drawings. Our fears proved justified when about seven weeks after we signed a contract with CDRC, the architect that the owner had us use informed us that, in fact, the project would not be able to proceed as expected. The owner of CDRC had assumed that the ceiling had a rafter/joist condition, but because he did not examine anything interior prior to contracting with us, had failed to realize that the ceiling was a roof truss condition. The owner then informed us that he was going to add $22,000 to the cost of our project. The new project cost exceeded our project budget and contingency, which was a home equity loan we had already taken out for the project based on the original contract cost. We notified the owner that we simply wouldn’t be able to move forward and requested the return of our deposit per our executed contract with CDRC. The owner then claimed that he could not return the deposit because he had already put a deposit on materials (despite not having completed drawings and despite the contract language). After reminding the owner that we had a conversation about this scenario, in writing via email, and had included language in the contract, he appeared to have no recollection and asked for a copy of the correspondence and executed agreement with the clause included. After we provided this the owner stopped communicating with us entirely. We have since had to hire an attorney to try to help resolve the issue but to date CDRC has not returned our deposit as stipulated in the contract and continues not to respond to communications. Needless to say, our nightmare experience has been frustrating and very heartbreaking for our family.
Called to get an estimate. Had a few questions about how this firm operated because it felt like a call center to me (on hold, etc). Operator would not proceed with the call without my last name. Wouldn’t answer a question, have a conversation. Just “what’s your last name? What’s your last name? What’s your last name? I’ll try another contractor.
I cannot give any positive feedback for the excavating, foundation work or sealing of my basement that was done in June.Wet cement being dumped on my neighbors property ("not my guys") to my gas line being bent preventing my hot water heater, furnace and stove not to function and National Grid digging up the lawn just reseeded. (again, "we didn't do that")This company and its salesman will not be recommended to my neighbors and my hospital coworkers.
We have had work done in 2 houses with Capital District and have been more than satisfied with all aspects of the work. One major home addition including bathroom and 2 large decks. Price is fair, workers are top notch.Highly recommend.
Dave and his team recently finished a large project on our house (adding a second story). We were impressed with their efforts on several fronts. When we first met with Dave, he offered ideas on how to finance the project. He was honest, transparent and pragmatic about how to manage the project when we were faced with challenges arising from the pandemic (delays on raw materials, increased costs, etc.). Additionally, Dave and his team were able to complete the job earlier than initially projected, which was impressive given the current staffing challenges for construction projects. We enjoyed working with Dave and his team and hope to work with them again on future projects.
I added a sunroom on to my house. Once we got through the permit process that was difficult due to the city of Saratoga Springs and not an issue of CDC, they did high quality work and finished the project in good time. They even finished to a certain level ahead of time to work with my schedule and people visiting. Easy to work with and responsive to requests. Better pricing than other contractors I got pricing from as well.
We used Capital District to construct a new sunroom on our home in Niskayuna. We are very happy with the experience and how the sunroom came out and would recommend Capital District. Though not the cheapest quote we received, I believe the construction is of higher quality, for example as the Sunroom is elevated over an existing patio and well insulated, we scoped in plywood coverings to keep rodents out of the insulation, which was not included in some of the other quotes but we felt was important given the many chipmunks in our yard and the destruction rodents can do. No corners were cut and quality subcontractors were used for work that was subcontracted out (Nolan did the plans, Crisafulli did the split, Ridgeline Roofing did the roof). While issues arise with scheduling and winter time construction, the project was largely on-schedule and fit our timeline and expectations, which is noteworthy considering the project was started in the fall of 2020 during the pandemic. The windows turned out to have a longer lead time than expected (pandemic) which added about a month, but our goal was to be in by March and we were. We had a leak around one of the skylights during a late winter thaw and the issue was corrected promptly and professionally. It is worth noting that it's a standing seam roof with a low grade. The water damage was repaired by Capital District and we have had no issues since the repair). No surprises on price or with scope changes (we added a few things). We would recommend Capital District.
We have used CDC for two big projects. They first build an awesome sunroom, with 4 sliding doors leading out out onto two separate decks. We we so happy with Dave & his crew, they were the first ones we called for our next project, a 2 car garage & mudroom with plenty of storage above the garage.. I would highly recommend!!
Some very talented craftsmen! They were flexible with any design changes as the project progressed. Did a full kitchen remodel--complete teardown to the studs which included removing three interior walls and installing hidden beams in the ceiling. Also had plumbing re-routed, electric service upgraded, new hardwood floors dovetailed into existing flooring, cabinets installed and significant lighting upgrades.Overall great job--would use again.
My Husband and I had our 4 Season Room totally remodeled and the finishing product was exactly what I had envisioned! Everyone of Dave’s team is extremely professional and extremely talented. Phil, Dave’s foreman on my job was so talented and so helpful in maki g some of the decisions as we progressed. He was a pleasure to work with! We were very lucky in choosing Capital District Contractors! I would highly recommend and hope to have future projects in my house.
CDC did a major remodeling and new construction on our older home. Completely gutting and remodeling the upstairs, adding a small addition, adding a front porch and new siding and roof. A major upgrade and they did it quickly and efficiently. They did a fantastic job and Dave stands behind his work with 100% integrity.
Capital District Residential Contractors built a two car garage with a 450 square foot apartment above. It came out beautiful and I have had dozens of compliments on the design and overall look of the carriage house.I would recommend them to anyone and have done that already.Dave Bernacki, the owner, is a class guy who stands behind his work. Great experience working with him!
We had a new sunroom built a few years ago and we absolutely love it. Dave was wonderful to work with and does high quality work at a fair price. We highly recommend Capital District Residential Contractors!
2 quick points about Dave and his guys: First, Dave and his crew have a positive vision about the project at hand and show a "can do" attitude. Second, the work is professionally done. If you're hiring these guys it will be done right from top to bottom, no short cuts.Capital District Contractors really did a incredible job on our remodel. It was an enormous task with ups and downs, due to the 1860(ish) year old house, but it was definitely nice to have a crew that I could trust on my side.
Their work was outstanding. Could not have been happier.Greatly improved the value of our house .Work was done in a timely manner and exceeded our expectations. Would hire them for any future work without hesitation. Extremely happy with their quality and service.
My husband and I hired Capital District Contractors approx 12 years ago for an addition on our home. We were very satisfied with the quality of the work and professionalism of the staff. Dave is very accessible for questions and pleasant to deal with. I just hired them again recently for a kitchen and two bathroom renovation. I have recommended Dave to several friends who have ultimately used him for additions, decks, and kitchens, and all were highly satisfied and have been return customers as well. Great company to deal with!
We have had Capital District Contractors complete two major jobs for us: remodeling our lower level to construct an in-law apartment and the addition of a four season room. We can't say enough good things about the quality of the work, the responsiveness of the owner and site manager, and the integrity of the employees. We would not hesitate to contact them again for future projects or to recommend their company to potential customers!
Dave and his crew were great to work with. We are very happy with the basement they finished. The final total came in right around budget and the timing was pretty close to expectation too. It was tough getting supplies due to pandemic related things, but they made it work. Their team (and the sub contractors) were great and always respectful of us and our home. Capital District Residential Contractors are definitely on call list for the next home improvement we do.
Capital District Residential Contractors build a quality product. We hired CRDC to build a screen room on the back of our home. Dave’s team are careful and skilled craftsman with attention to detail. Workmen showed up on time and worked efficiently and cleaned up at the end of the day. I would recommend Capital District Residential Contractors highly. Great builders, great job!
CDRC are the best in the business. Dave and his team put a two story addition on our home. From beginning to end it was a terrific experience. We were well informed throughout the entire remodel and Dave was always available to address any questions or concerns. I cannot recommend them enough. Great business, great people!
One of the best and largest residential contractors around. Dave promptly showed-up at our house in a professional vehicle and professional dressed. He was very informative and professional. Dave and his company are top notch from the vehicles they drive, the CDRC shirts they wear, the tools they use, etc. I hired a small young contractor about 10 years ago and he required a large deposit and was always asking for money. Dave is not that guy. Dave's company is so large and he does so much work that the smaller companies can't even compare. If you are looking for a company that is reliable, professional and structurally sound, hire Dave to do your work. Dave and his crew are truly the best.
We had a huge job to do: replace half of our house foundation, which was cracked and bowing. CDRC has the experience and expertise needed to get such a serious job done. They completed the work beautifully. The house is secure and the new foundation half no longer leaks with ground water, giving us extra usable space. We did encounter a few snags along the way, due to the company having to outsource some work to other contractors, but the owner, Dave, was always available to fix any problems immediately. Only thing keeping them from 5 stars was the inconsistent communication throughout the process. We never really knew, day to day, when people would show up to complete work and what they were working on. And extra expenses encountered during the process weren't discussed until after the fact, causing a bit of financial stress. But the end result is most important and the quality work speaks for itself. We have additional renovation plans to tackle, and we will be hiring them again when needed.
We had to put my grandma’s house on the market but before we could we had to have some of the sheetrock fixed which capital district contractors took care for us! Thank you for the awesome job and we will definitelyuse them in the future!
We hired Capital District Contractors to design and construct a three-season room and deck addition to our home, and we are extremely pleased with the results. Dave Bernacki and his crew were always professional. They did it all! Framing, sheetrock, flooring, windows, painting, electric, and they made every step easy for us as customers. We always felt informed as to how each phase of the build would happen and when. The construction was done over the winter, which meant that there were a handful of short delays due to cold weather but, nevertheless, everything was completed in a timely fashion and to the high standard that we hoped for. If we ever had questions or concerns, Dave was just an email away, and almost always responded within hours. We genuinely could not be happier that we hired Capital District Contractors and would definitely recommend them.
I don't have an opinion on the business itself. I went to the web site and filled out the robo call back option. If they did call they didn't think my business was important enough to leave a message.Edit: After leaving the original review, the owner of the company thought it appropriate to look me up on Facebook so he could send me a message regarding my "negative review". He insisted I never filled out the request for a free estimate, among other comments, providing me a somewhat lengthy message.I admit there is a small chance I somehow screwed up the simple process they provide, but that seems unlikely.Unfortunately the discomfort this message created forces me to edit my review.
This review for Capital District Contractors is long overdue. In the spring we decided to have a sunroom added. I had a good feeling the first time I met Dave Bernacki. Normally, I would normally be skeptical regarding what's promised and what is really received. However, Mr. Bernacki put us at ease with his easy going, no pressure estimate. We knew upfront the costs, what we were getting into and when things would be done. He offered ideas that cost less and gave us so much more. For a contractor to actually guide us while reducing our costs left us impressed to say the least.Even more impressive, they showed up on time, all the time. His carpenters are craftsmen. His work inimitable. This company, Capital District Contractors, and owner Dave Bernacki went above and beyond the call of duty.I strongly recommend and urge anyone looking for home improvements to call today!!! You'll be happy you did!!!
Most reasonable cost estimate and very personable owner and workers. Dave Bernacki told us up front that he was my best friend on the job, and he was absolutely right. We had our kitchen and dining room gutted and a bearing wall removed. Dave made some additional recommendations during the renovation which were valuable to the integrity of the project. A couple of things that needed fixing were done with no questions asked. We are highly satisfied with Capital District Contractors and the finished product. Have had positive comments from friends and family. We strongly recommend CDC for your project.
As a Realtor, I recommend Dave Bernacki and his team every single time a client needs an in-law apt, sun room, addition, finished basement, or any remodel. Everyone who has hired him is 100% happy and I get nothing but rave reviews on his professionalism, ethics, the quality of work, and his team. The before & after pics on his website and testimonials speak for themselves! Dave is the best in the business.
I would NOT recommend this firm. I paid about $35k for a sunroom about 10 years ago, which at first looked nice. The one significant detail that he never clarified before construction was the treatment from the floor of the room (which does not have a full foundation) to the ground. What they installed was white painted masonry board and cheap wood trim. The paint flaked off in sheets and the wood rotted away. That was completely replaced about 3-5 years on with PVC based sheet goods and trim.About 3 years after construction, I looked out the only upstairs window that overlooks the roof to discover that one of the skylights had a trim kit installed around it, the other didn't. I contacted Dave, he told me he came out and looked at it. He said the trim kit was no longer available. (Doubtful, because I was told today it was available, and purchased separately from the window.) He said based on the fact that the window hadn't leaked, it would be fine. I'm now at the 10 year mark, and one of the skylights is almost completely rotted through on the bottom, ants are proliferating and the replacement skylight, roof deck and shingles will be about $2500. The interior sheetrock repairs will come later.I sent Dave an email, which he hasn't responded to. No matter, I won't be using them to construct anything.I am paying someone else to fix the mess, and hopefully do it right this time.
I did an 800sq/ft basement remodeling project with CDC. They were very nice to work with. I have no complaints. Dave was very responsive to my questions/concerns and all of the work was done in a very timely manner. I will definitely be going with them in the future for other projects.
It’s hard to believe that it has been a year since Dave and his crew completed the addition of our family room. The room is filled with lots of windows and an incredible fireplace being the center of attraction. The Adirondack look and feel was achieved as we requested so our room has now become our “Get Away.” The warmth the room brought during Christmas with the tree and decorations was picture perfect. We can’t say enough about the great team Dave has, from the crew that prepared the footings, to the framers to those who did the finish and fine detail work; they are all perfectionists and were great to bounce ideas off of and answer our questions. Our home is a family gathering place and is continuing to grow so the extra room that we now have is amazing. We can’t thank Dave and his team enough for the awesome job they did in creating our retreat. We would highly recommend CDC for any project you are considering.MaryAnn & Randy Stark
Dave and team, led by Ken, were very nice to work with and I would definitely recommend CDC. Both from a quality of craftsmanship as well as quality of the service. Dave’s team built us a very beautiful three season screen room, which we naturally incorporated a lot of changes to along the way. ;-) Dave was very flexible and was able accommodate all of our additional requests without issue.Dave knows his stuff and his team does quality work. Dave was very reasonable as far as cost goes...when I bid the job he was one of the most reasonable. He was also very good about sticking to his quotes and staying on budget without any hassle which was a great stress reducer for a job this big.Ken was also a very great project lead and was very communicative. He was good about proactively reaching out to provide updates on the plan and next steps. Ken was also easy to talk to and was very client focused (not saying no and was very patient when there were changes) while also not over promising until he was sure the team could accommodate any request. If I were to say anything critical it would be that the project took longer to complete than I wanted, however I understand we contracted with Dave late in the season and he has a lot of jobs going on at all times. This is also to be expected with any big construction project.Overall my wife and I are very happy with the porch and are also glad we did the upgraded plexi-glass for the winter. Very excited to use the porch in the spring and for many years to come!
From start to finish of our basement remodel our experience with CDC was nothing but top notch and professional. Dave was great walking me through the entire process, and the project manager Ken was extremely proactive in his communication, available to talk at a moments notice, and worked through the project with me as it was happening. The workers were outstanding as well. They always left our house as neat as when they came in, took care of our house, and talked with us throughout the work to see what tweaks or changes needed to be made to fit our likes. This fluid process made a stressful situation very relaxing and enjoyable.I could not be happier with the finished product. It looks professional and 100% amazing. This was our first experience with a contracting company and I would not go with any other company moving forward. Highly recommend to anyone looking to do a home improvement job.
CDC recently completed adding a screened porch to our home. To say that we are pleased with the work they did is an understatement. The quality of the work done by their craftsmen was excellent in every detail. The customer service provided by Ken and Dave exceeded our expectations. We would highly recommend this contractor to anyone. Finally, we were pleasantly surprised that the job was completed two weeks ahead of schedule.
We are very pleased with Capital District Contractors, from initial consult with Dave to seeing and hearing from his faithful assistant Ken very regularly to know what was happening when. We’d like to also give a shoutout to Bill and Basil (framers) for our screened porch and to Gary and Paul who finished it up, with help from Jimmy. These master carpenters did great work, finished RIGHT ON TIME, they were creative and fulfilled every idea my brain could come up with as the porch developed. The quality of work done was excellent, they cleaned up every day at the end of day, and their eagerness to please the customer (me) was great. We’ll be calling them again in future.
Capital District Contractors built a 4-season sunroom and deck for us this spring and did a fabulous job. We are so very pleased with the end result. Dave and Ken made the entire process simple and painless. They were always available to answer any questions we had; and we were kept up to date on all aspects of construction from purchases to schedule. Our primary contractor, Phil, took the time to really understand what we were looking for, worked with us on the details, took our design and made it even better. The work is beyond our expectations. All of the trades were here when scheduled, kept us abreast of their progress, maintained a neat, clean and organized worksite, and were all very professional, kind and courteous. All did exemplary work from our perspective, took pride in what they were doing, and produced a high quality job. We would definitely contact Dave again for other projects we may have.
Golf is my husband’s hobby and our home is mine. As we update our new home to add character — and achieve a more custom result — I researched several contractors that could bring my vision to life in an affordable way. Capital District Contractors was recommended by our builder and to say I am pleased is an understatement. Knowledgeable, professional and kind are a few words that come to mind. Their team — and their subcontractors — have added crown molding, wainscoting, raised paneling, shiplap, interior paint, and lighting. I can not recommend Capital District Contractors enough and do so to family and friends regularly. I can’t wait for our next project!
I recommend with the utmost confidence CDC. Dave Bernacki's company is of the highest caliber. He finished our basement and the result wasbeyond our expectations.Dave helped us plan, sharing his expertise and listening to our desires so that the end result was just what we wanted .He and his foreman, Ken, constantly oversaw the work being done. They kept to the schedule and budget they proposed. They organized the workers and coordinated all the various aspects of construction so that the process ran smoothly. His employees are top notch, highly skilled craftsmen. They are prompt, courteous and neat. Throughout the process there was great communication between us, Dave, and the foreman so we always knew what was going on.The workers cleaned up at the end of every day. They handled getting the permit and set up all the inspections so everything was done correctly and by code.We couldn't be happier with the way the basement came out and are happy to recommend CDC.
I would highly recommend CDC. Dave and his crew are truly professional in every step of the remodel process. After getting several estimates we settled on Capital District after a recommendation from a neighbor. The work he provided was top notch and reasonably priced. Throughout the process Dave was always easy to get in contact with and kept the homeowner up to date with the progress and subsequent steps. As an added bonus the work crews really kept the job site clean and organized. We are going to use CDC for our upcoming projects this spring. If you are looking for an all around great contractor I would not hesitate to give Dave a call.
We hired Capital District Contractors to design and build a 4-season addition to our home. Dave completed the job as promised. Excellent workmanship, finished project on time - complete satisfaction ! Our4-season room added value and comfort to our home. My family is delighted with our decision to hire Capital District Contractors to build this wonderful extension onto our home. Thanks Dave!
Dave Bernacki of Capital District Contractors met with us recently to discuss a large project we want to do. Due to a lot of issues with our nearly 200-year old house, we want to demolish a portion of our home, rebuild with a full basement, re-frame the roof, and provide a shell that we could finish ourselves. Dave did not wince once when we shared the extent of our project and provided a quote quickly after hearing what we wanted. Unfortunately, due to financing restrictions, we aren't able to proceed with the project at this time. However, although he didn't do the work, he was very attentive, responded quickly to all messages, and was easy to work with.
Dave and his team did a great job from start to finish. He was very accommodating when it came to changes that we wanted and was very professional through the whole process . We also found his crew exceptional. They came on time and cleaned up afterwards which was very important to us because we have a toddler running around. We also want to make sure we mention Phil. Phil does great work and we were really Impressed with him!!! Overall we love Dave and his crew. We would highlyRecommend CDC for any project you want to take on.
Dave and his team did excellent work. Professional, clean, thorough in their detail to attention, and most of all they stand behind their work. All contractors were knowledgeable in their craft and worked long and hard to get it done correctly.More importantly, they came back to tweak small things immediately after a quick text or phone call. They take pride in their work and we're very happy with the finished addition they put on our home. These guys are the "all stars " of contractors.
WE contracted CDC in 2015 to enlarge our Kitchen. WE had several estimates but non had a vision of what could be done. Dave saw the potential and said we are taking all the walls down including foyer, stairs and floors. WE have lived in our house for 42 years and it had gone through many transition but never to this degree . He was right! The result was an open plan with an actual foyer. The process was mostly an easy transition and the result was fantastic! Yes, we had a few bumps but everything was corrected immediately. All new windows, floors and a new beautiful home emerged.Thank-you CDC for making our living space something we all enjoy and love everyday!
We invited 3 contractors to bid on an extensive project for our home in 2016. We wanted to completely reconstruct our back patio, and remodel our family room, which were adjacent rooms in our home. The patio project entailed demolishing the old structure, completely removing the existing foundation, and tearing down an existing brick fireplace. We wanted to extend the size of that room, and install back to back gas fireplaces, so that each room could be individually heated, and so that the new patio would be a 4 season room. Dave Bernacki met with us, listened carefully to our requests, and responded with a comprehensive quote, and he also discussed ideas that he thought he could include at minimal incremental cost (e.g. outside lighting) to enhance the project. He outlined the permits that would be required, the materials and labor cost, and the subcontractors that would be used based on their expertise, along with his own direct employees. We were (and remain) extremely pleased with how the project was managed. His employees and his contractors are professional, courteous, efficient, and accommodating. At each step in the process they would ask questions and make small changes as the project proceeded. The room is beautiful and during the project, the crew cleaned up the debris daily, so that the project site was cleared of any dangerous or unsightly materials. I strongly endorse Dave Bernacki and Capital District Contractors for any remodeling job that you may be considering. They are fair in their business dealings, and they strive to make the end state exactly what you envision.
Capital District Contractors built an addition on our home, which involved removing the whole back wall of the house and building a new living room and adding another bedroom and a deck. It came out beautiful, a perfect job of tying in the new building with the existing. Dave's advice during the planning stages was spot on, and the workmanship top notch. Dave and Ken were a pleasure to work with throughout the project, even suggesting design changes on the fly that turned out to be even better than we envisioned!! I would highly recommend Capital District Contractors, and would definitely use them again for any future home improvement projects.
Had Dave Bernacki and his crew build an addition on house to not only build over our family room but to extend both our master bedroom and my parents bedroom. The work was not only done very professionally, customized on the fly to accommodate our last minute requests but most importantly Dave was very flexible with us on the payments. We have worked with many contractors and none of them close to the quality, workmanship and professionalism of Dave and his crew. We are planning on quite a few projects in our house and CDC will be our first choice. Would highly recommend them.
We just had a screened porch built and were extremely pleased with Capital District Contractors! Dave (the owner) and Ken (the project manager) were outstanding! Their entire team was professional, courteous, and to be honest a pleasure to work with! They came when scheduled, Ken kept us completely informed, and they met all timelines while keeping the entire project within the originally agreed upon budget. No hidden costs! We felt like the entire crew took pride in giving us a finished product that far exceeded our expectations and that our family will enjoy for years to come. This was by far the best experience we have had working with a contractor and we will not hesitate to recommend them to family and friends in the future. And should the need arise they will be number one our list!!!Tom & Kristin Signor
We had some crown molding, wainscoting and beadboard installed in various parts of our home by Capital District Contractors and could not have been more pleased! Dave was kind, honest and fair when it came to giving us an estimate on materials and labor. Jeremy was incredibly considerate and accommodating when he was doing work in our home. I even had some health challenges causing chemical sensitivities and he was careful to do what he could outside and to use a specific caulking agent, as to not complicate my health any further. The work they do it beautiful and precise! They throroughly cleaned up each day, never leaving a mess. Additionally, when I was unhappy with the height of something, Jeremy made the time and put in the effort to create a custom trim ledge to get to the height we preferred. We can not say enough about them! Would recommend to all!
Great work and better priced than most contractors. They are always available and always willing to communicate, morning, noon and night. If you are looking to get work done and do not meet with Dave to get a quote, you will be doing yourself a disservice. I have recommended them to 3 people already in the 3 weeks since they completed because I feel confident in them enough to put my word and name behind them as well.
We are so happy that we went with Capital District Contractors for our home renovation/addition project, it was a big project including addition of a full season Sun-room, a dedicated sound proof media room(home theater) under the new Sun-room, Finished basement, Stamped Patio, Hardwood flooring, Gas fire pit.During the project, Dave gave us many creative ideas to enhance the looks of our addition, suggesting things we never thought, we heavily utilized his vast experience. His team consisting of licensed professionals was always on time and courteous, Dave would visit often to make sure that everything is going as planned, the crew performed worked admirably, making sure that whatever they are doing is perfect, would cleanup after each day of work, the whole project was completed on time as scheduled and on the budget.Majority of our time is now spent in our Sun-room and on weekends in our Media Room in the Finished Basement with Family and Friends, I am writing this review after 3 years, and still get compliments each time someone visits our house.I have recommend Dave and his team to all my Family and Friends, have used his company for some minor work also in the last 3 years.Finding a good contractor is rare, and we are glad that we found Dave.Dave, we will be happy to show off your work, you can certainly use us as your reference anytime.
We had been looking for the right contractor for our "this old house" kitchen renovation project for months without success. Recommended contractors either never called us back or were scared off when we told them the age of the house (over 200 yrs). Then I heard an ad on the radio about an honest contractor who doesn't even require a deposit and I was intrigued, so I sent Dave an email and within a day he responded and was at my house to look at the project the first day we were both available. I knew when I first shook his hand, he was the guy I was looking for. He listened to the ideas we had and offered many of his own that we hadn't considered possible. He didn't flinch at the age of the house or the complexity of the project. He gave us a price within our budget and we were on our way to a beautiful kitchen. Yes, there were some bumps along the way and some unexpected items which slowed the project down, but he was more than fair with us and things could not have turned out better. His crew (especially Jeremy and Jacob) were top-notch. Dave wasn't exaggerating when he assured me his guys were the best in the area.We love our new kitchen and it wouldn't have been possible had I not found Dave and his great crew!
Dave & company recently added an atrium room addition to the back is of my home integrating it with existing deck and building a new poolside deck with a very long handicap ramp ! His craftsmen are outsanding with the end result better than you could have imagined ! I originally contacted Patio Room builders and received a bid that was not a very good value or result. The difference in quality and appearance was dramatically subpar compared to my finished product from Capitol District Builders . Although more in total cost the finished product was a bargain in retrospect. Quality work for a fair price. Until you see the end prodct you can't appreciate the overall outstanding value it really is !Reccomend to contact them well in advance of your desired work as they are extremely in demand because of their reputation and commitment to serving their customers !Robert & Kathy EddyWilton, NY
We hired Dave to finish our basement and recommendation from others in our neighborhood. We had several quotes but CDC was the most reasonable for what we wanted. In a lot of ways we were not sure what we wanted and Dave and his crew were helpful along the way to guide us in terms of offering advice and ideas and options based upon their experience. We made several changes to the overall plan throughout the process but ultimately we got the living space in the basement that we wanted and we are very happy with the results. It’s like a seamless extension of the rest of the house. The basement included three rooms, a bathroom. Also, as mentioned we made a lot of changes and while some of them obviously impacted the overall cost, it was reasonable and there was no “nickel and diming” so to speak....So overall I would recommend CDC and have done so several times. With any GC and any project there are always going to be hiccups along the way - but our experience was pretty smooth and easy and the results are great.
We hired Capital District Contractors to finish our basement and couldn't be happier with their work! After an initial meeting to discuss what we wanted versus our budget, we agreed on a fair price and signed off on a contract. Work commenced quickly and efficiently...Dave (the owner) and Ken (project manager) were helpful and responsive with all of our questions. The project was completed on time and we barely had to lift a finger during the process. The best part? The final cost was exactly what we had agreed on...no overruns and no unexpected charges!Highly recommended!
I researched for a company that looked like their construction was polished. I was willing to pay for good quality craftsmanship. Dave was reasonably priced and his company's work was excellent. He built us a beautiful deck and we constantly get compliments. Highly recommended!
